A bouquet of natural eucalyptus leaves hangs downward. Hidden among the foliage, a realistic glass eye peers outward, aimed directly at the viewer. The visual mechanism of the piece relies on camouflage: it ensures that the object watches the audience before the audience notices its presence. The installation uses a botanical, decorative element to conceal an act of silent surveillance, materializing the invasion of privacy. The work illustrates the contemporary paranoia of being constantly under technological record, demonstrating how the loss of unobserved, intimate spaces alters and conditions an individual's natural behavior.
